TIPS FOR THIS WEEK'S SHARE:
Amaranth greens are a great vegetable to stir-fry. They turn soft and mellow as they cook down and are best in stir-fries, soups, simmered dishes, and the like. They go well with a few cloves of crushed garlic.
Passion Fruit is the fruit of a perennial vine that thrives in San Diego. It will quickly turn a chain link fence into a lush bright green garden focal point. The flowers are stunning, and the fruit ripens in August. Wait until the skin is a bit wrinkly, cut it in half, and eat the citrus-y, seedy center with a spoon.
